I have personally never understood this argument against a form of universal health care (full disclosure, i’m from the UK). People pay tax for things that everyone uses. Every will need some form of health care in their life. Why not take a little portion of your pay cheque each month and make sure everyone has access to health care when they need it? It’s not as if people are going to be greedy; ‘ohh, you’ve been using too many ambulances — give me my money back!’
